As a white person, I’ve been blinded to the whiteness of role models I admired as a kid.  That’s how privilege operates — automatically and mindlessly.

The most loyal Democratic voters are Black Women. That group is also my favorite audience for speeches and training for the past 23 years of WBI.  They have built-in bullshit detectors and call foul at the slightest hint of fake. Their honesty has led to some great experiences for me.

The U.S. is a very timid, backward country when compared to other Western societies that for decades have elected women presidents, prime ministers and legislative leaders. Finally, America has its first woman vice-president elect.

Kamala Harris is also notably a woman of color. She’s not likely to forget Black Lives Matter and our national disgrace of never addressing entrenched racism (and partly responsible for over 70 million Americans voting for the racist candidate and party).

Finally, non-white children have a role model who looks like them. We could be on the path of America becoming the land of possibilities for EVERYONE!
